I am SO happy Jake and Aubrey chose me for their wedding! I had taken photos at Aubrey’s sisters wedding in April ( click here to see some of Kristen and Kenneth’s day) and Shawn ( my hubby and main second shooter) and I commented on how nice everyone was! We were looking forward to working with their family again!
I met with Jake and Aubrey and we chatted about their day and went over paperwork, they were both great and I was looking forward to their day even more! Aubrey and I e-mailed throughout the time leading up to their day. We talked a lot about their timeline, since their wedding date was in November and after the time change! Sunset at 5:01pm! They opted for a first look since it wouldn’t be daylight after their 4:30pm ceremony! A little secret? I LOVE first looks. This is only the second one I’ve shot to date, but it just always seems like things are a little more relaxed after them. And photos where I can chose the lighting and location are always a plus! I love capturing them seeing each other, it’s a truly special moment for me too!
The day came! It ended up being a very cold and windy November day, and had rained all morning! It cleared up just in time for us to start shooting! Shawn and I arrived about 1pm, he started with taking some photos of the guys! The girls were running a tiny bit late so I started on detail shots, which worked out really well! Aubrey arrived and her Mom helped her into her dress, when she noticed that an area of the dress wasn’t exactly what she was hoping for… But! Her amazing sister stepped in and sewed the day ( haha) and we were in business! We got all of their photos in that we planned on with 15 minutes to spare, ahead of our timeline!
Their ceremony was beautiful at The Mayernik Center, the reception was so fun and the room was so full of love! Shawn looked out the window around 8pm and saw a pretty sight! The first snowfall of the year on their wedding day! I couldn’t pass up the chance for a photo of them in the snow! I went and asked them if they would be willing to brave the VERY cold ( at this point, VERY cold) air for a photo and they immediately said “YES!”! We went out and got the shot, they never complained about any of the times through the day I had asked them to come out in the cold that day, and I couldn’t be happier with their photos because of it!
